22.02.465 Required building service equipment inspections.

(A) General. All building service equipment for which a permit is required by this chapter or the technical codes shall be inspected by the building official. No portion of any building service equipment shall be concealed until inspected and approved. When the installation of any building service equipment is complete, a final inspection shall be performed. Building service equipment regulated by the technical codes shall not be connected to the water, fuel or power supply or sewer system until authorized by the building official.
(B) Replacement of Building Service Equipment. Building service equipment installed to replace existing building service equipment which is serving an occupied portion of the building may be operated if a request for inspection of that replacement equipment has been filed with the building official not more than forty-eight hours after such replacement work was completed and before any portion of the building service equipment is concealed.
(C) Performance Verification. Prior to final inspection of the building, the appropriate permittee is responsible to test all components of the fire and life-safety systems and verify their proper operation.
Upon completion of all component testing, the general contractor shall perform an overall life-safety system test. The system test program shall be submitted to the building official prior to system testing. The system test shall be witnessed by the building official. (Ord. 3618 § 2 (part), 2008)
